THE
MONASHEE CHALET is for use on a self-guided basis. Groups of 10
or more will have exclusive use of the chalet and surrounding
terrain to plan their own backcountry adventure.
For some extra pampering, we can assist you in hiring a cook and/or
a guide.
Sleeping
The chalet accommodates 14 adults comfortably. There are 7 sleeping
compartments, with 5 double beds and the 4 single bunks. Extra
room is available in the loft, great for children!
Medium weight sleeping bags are provided, however each person
is responsible for supplying their own liner/sheet. This reduces the amount of gear you require and is hygienic.
Cooking
The chalet comes fully equipped for cooking and serving your group. Propane fuel for the main stove and oven
is stored below the cabin. Check the pilot lights for turning on and off. The kitchen also has a barbeque, pots & pans, bowls & plates, cups & utensils and a hand crank ice cream maker (with winter ice).
Heat and Light
A space heater is next to the stove for those extra cold temperatures. Wood is stored below the chalet under the trap door, to be tossed up for the wood stove.
A Generator is located in a sound insulation container outside
of the chalet. You will be provided with instructions to start the generator. Lanterns use propane canisters for an additional light source.
Ensure you have a good battery
supply for your flashlights/headlamps for late night reading or
trips to the outhouse.
Facilities
There is a shower stall and wash area with sink and mirror.
Clothes can be dried on the hangers provided.
The "two-seater" outhouse is supplied with toilet paper. Cleaning supplies are provided for your use.
Indoor Entertainment
VCR for movies, or to be used for your camera hook-up to view the days footage. CD-Cassette
Stereo available - bring your music.
2 guitars and harmonicas are available.
Board games - Chess, Risk, Monopoly, Backgammon, Crib, cards,
dice, books and magazines.
Food and Supplies
Food and supplies should be packed into sturdy cardboard boxes,
which can be burned at the chalet. Bring containers that can either
be burned or compressed (tin).
Do not leave left over food and supplies -- hike it in, hike it
out. For garbage disposal, burn the burnables and bag the rest
- it will be hauled out. Bottles and cans should be separated for recycling.
